Ragtown Pioneer Cemetery

Ragtown Pioneer Cemetery
Benton #11  26672  442nd Lane

Formerly called Benton Township Cemetery.
Ragtown, by the way, is not named that because its occupants were raggedy. It's named after Amos Ragsdale, a modest Benton Township entrepreneur who if I'm not mistaken was the first to live on what became first the Beals and then the Lloyd and Bessie May place just off the Transformer Road southwest of Russel

Frank Myers about Ragtown appears at this site:  Click here:

Ragtown Cemetery, in Section 11 of Benton Township was formerly called Benton Township Cemetery. From Chariton it can be located by driving east from the intersection of Highways 14 and 34 at the south edge of town, turning right just beyond the bridge over the railroad onto a graveled road, which joins Road H-40, the Bluegrass Road. Follow this road about 3.7 miles to the third road leading to the right, then turn right to go south, and approximately 1 ½ miles to the Ragtown Cemetery on the south side of the road.
