Established in 1869 for the use of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

Calvary, which is also known as the Catholic Cemetery, is located about 1/4 mile east of the intersection of Highway 14 & H-32 at the north edge of Chariton. It is on the south side of the road, in Section 21 of Lincoln Township.

This cemetery was established in 1869 for the use of the Sacred Heart Parish. When laid out, it comprised of a four acre tract at the northeast corner of the city. In 1958 an addition of l½ acres was made. This addition lies in Lincoln Township but the original part of the cemetery is within the city limits.
