Catherine Hunter reportedly was the first to be buried at Oxford Cemetery, during 1875, but tombstones recording deaths in the 1860s raise doubts about that assertion.

The Oxford Cemetery, located in Section 11 of Lincoln Township.  On Highway 14 at the north edge of Chariton turn east (right) on H32 and go 3.3 miles to 260^th Ave. (S45), turn left and go 1 mile north on a graveled road and the cemetery is on the east (right) side of the road.
